Brad Sloan
Brad Sloan started low angle photography because of a trip he took to manhattan. He fell in love wth the city and started taking low angle shots of buildings. His photographs use vantage points and surrealism in how the building is presented. I like his work because it fits into my theme of using low angles to capture height of buildings. It is creative and more surreal. This style is new way of capturing buildings.
Some Examples of his work are here below
This is one of my favourite piece from Mark Sloan because you can see the photo is different to his other pictures. You can see he made the buildings compact and circular. I think the dark colours on the outside of the picture increase emphasis on the tall building in the middle. This makes the viewer seem trapped and also adds an illusion effect. In the picture vantage point is used effectively . The high angle allows us to see the whole picture.
I like this photo from Mark Sloan because of the use of reflection of the buildings to add a different perspective. It also adds surrealism to the image because there is a crack in the image . The shape of the main image is a circle which could represent the city as the main attraction of the world. I like when Brad Sloan shapes the image in a circle because of its unique shape and it's abbstract. The light goes from dark to light, this contrast adds higher definition to the centre of the picture.
Peter Stewart
Peter Stewart is an Australian photographer who takes picture of buildings and cityscapes. He takes most of his pictures in Hong Kong because he likes taking pictures of areas that are close and make people feel claustrophobic. He has a passion for documentary photographs.
I like this photograph because of the vantage point which is extreme low angle which sows the overbearing size of the buildings. Depth of field is expressed by the buildings going from bigger to smaller which shows the buildings getting further away. The pictures effect on the viewer is the viewer being confined and trapped. I like this photo because it links to my theme and shows some ideas I would like to express in my work. Even though the time of the day is light but the building are dark which adds a mysterious effect.
I like this picture because of the colours he use this is because it is unique and he uses to two different colours which adds contrast. The techniques which Peter Stewart uses are vantage point. Normally he uses low angle shots to make everything look small, inferior and confined. He uses the lack of light to make all focus on the shape at the top. The whole makes the building look never ending. .

Photoshoot 1 Location: ST Albans Park Objective: High angle shots
Why the photoshoot was unsucessful
However this photoshoot does express vantage points and depth of field. This photoshoot was unsuccessful because it did not fill the theme correctly.Their is no main focus so the viewer cannot concentrate on the subject. This is because the main focus of the topic was buildings from really low angles.
Photoshoot 2 Brentford Experimenting from the top of a building
A photo from the photoshoot
This picture explains why the photoshoot was unsuccessful. This is shown by the picture because they are blurry and don't show the technique I was aiming for. This is shown in the photograph. The photo is not good because it doesn't express the idea and the picture doesn't show height. I will improve next time by trying more photoshoots and using a better position from high objects. I will also try and achieve the style better by taking pictures from better vantage points. The way I could do this is to use photoshop more. This picture describes photoshoot because it is dull and has no emotion. This photoshoot also looks a bit rushed and shows that my hand was quite shaky when I took the photograph.
