These are my favourite photo's because they are unique but all have a common style. This is shown buy the time each of them are set. The back and white effect and only the one source of lighting. Theses are al film noir shoots. You can see they are all dressed in appropriate costume and all have good props for a film noir photoshoot. An example of this would be the cigar and alcohol or the way that none of them have eye contact with the camera to show a mysterious effect. I think this series inspires me in my own work because it's a modern take on an old style. I like these photos because it creates a dangerous and suspicious atmosphere. In the last picture you can see the position of the model is side on and no eye contact is needed. This makes the photo good because normally pictures use eye contact but this one doesn't.
The picture in the middle is my favourite because the position of the model shows that there is something for him to be worried about. The way you can tell this is the eyes are not looking at the camera. From the middle picture you can see that split lighting on half the face, this is a technique commonly used in film noir. The scene is good because of the liquor in the background and the dark corners of the picture. This is a modern type of film noir because of the cloths the characters are wearing. |
